The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it?     电影基于巴尔扎克的小说《幻灭》，每个人物都很真实，讽刺的主题到现在也不过时。纯粹的诗人，艺术家，纯洁的爱情，公正的心灵，在每个时代都是最难守护的东西。电影总统很好，稍微美化了一点点诗人跟贵妇的爱情，没有追随把原著小说里面两人早已显露的对对方的厌烦。不过不影响观影感受。巴尔札克真的太善于运用语言，在电影中每次直接引用原著都让人对原著再添一份向往之情。
