The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 这几年看过叙事最抓人的片子了 全片只有一个场景 十几个角色都没露脸 都是通过电话塑造人物形象和故事 最后反转反转再反转
三星给予这探究的新意，对男主的探索应该会让这个故事更加饱满，但是过度挖掘有点本末倒置，没有力量
有点无聊，需要快进看，其实就是没什么意思，杰伦哈尔也就那么回事吧，表演全靠吼，神经错乱癫狂不止，全警局就看他在那耍猴戏
什么叫一流商业片导演，什么叫王牌编剧，什么叫剧情张力，什么叫精湛演技？一个警情呼叫中心办公室，一张办公桌，一部iPhone，一个男人，这片就成了！屏幕上这张帅脸，电话那头的声音，牢牢抓住了观影人的心，Broken people saved broken people，男主最后的醒悟令人唏嘘和欣慰。

关于主角，这么演是为了增加紧迫感和戏剧性，但脱离了一部分真实感，现实中的接线员像电影里同事说的，他一直这么混蛋，那估计已经被开除了，而且砸碎了公司物品。
不因主演的话，我是不会看这部电影的，感觉奈飞的好剧/电影不多。
jake老独角戏表演艺术家了，卡司用有限的哭腔喘息去传达复杂情绪，同时包裹很多琐碎典型社会问题，再来点世界末日的氛围，还是挺美式翻拍的，broken people save broken people，amen
比欧版更让人容易看进去，老美老练的镜头语言把整个故事诠释的更具临场感。结尾比较俗套，那也是原版剧本的锅，总体是忠实还原原著。吉伦哈尔的表演也优于原版，原版除了面瘫还是面瘫，寡淡、乏味。原故事顶多值2星，杰克演出 + 改编的细节增强 + 豆瓣分严重偏差 = 2星，总分 4 星。

我先开始还怀疑这一切是真是假，就一直在想男主经历了什么，发生了什么。最后结果真的好意外！反正完全不是我想的那个方向。好喜欢看这种成本比较少，然后差不多一个人的镜头，场景也就这些。就氛围营造的很好，很惊悚。但是全篇没有恶心的东西出现，没有血腥，只简简单单讲一个故事。这个和“Calls”差不多。那个也很好看，只有声音。这部电影胆小的可以放心入。
因为是翻拍，所以少了一颗星，要不是看过西班牙版原片，这个可以四星。

大部分时间感觉有点拖沓，后面的反转有点出其不意，男主的性格太冲动，需要改一改
杰克的演技一如既往优秀，本片的多次爆发戏也给他充分的自我展示空间。但面对几乎原封不动的故事，相较于原片以平淡见真章，从冷静到压抑到解脱，本片的好莱坞式三段表述还是落于下成，就像片中新增的洛杉矶大火背景，喧嚣吵闹、灰尘扑面。
这片子可真省钱啊，是不是大部分预算都是吉伦哈尔的片酬……
称不上惊悚，最后厕所那段总感觉男主的脸很纠结，想哭没哭出来，特别难受
