如今看，它的叙事手法很不大一样，有别于好莱坞类型片，可惜这种叙事方式没有机会发展出属于中国的特色，那个时代就灰飞烟灭了。

该片讲述天宫里的袁公偷盗天书，刻在石洞里，后被三只狐狸偷学。狐狸修炼天书法术后，危害百姓。最后由天鹅蛋化为人形的蛋生，学习法术后和袁公一起消灭了狐妖，而袁公因泄露天机，被抓回了天庭。
