The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 剧情平铺直叙少亮点，叙事节奏也比较温吞，故事展现得很温柔，也可以看出作为年老牛仔的东木想展示的表达。牛仔迟暮，但是雄心仍旧。
每一句台词不管是old还是macho都像是在说自己
三星半。老爷子出手质量还是能保证的，一老一少一只战斗鸡，一段穿越边界线的旅程，这部片子里善良的人比较多。

这个男人太会讲故事了，没有那种极致又悲惨的结局，但更好地刻画了墨西哥的现实社会，会推荐
平心而论真的很“平淡无奇”，情节也是非常“俗不可耐”的一部片子，其中对于冲突的温柔简洁处理想来却算是对自己“力不从心”的一种别样阐述了，无论戏里戏外亦是如此。但再怎么说东木导演90多了还能坚持拍片，有这种精力也确实是令人敬佩的。
