The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 成年后兀自感到的孤独和失落可能源于已经忘记的儿时经历的不愉快，偶尔在某一刻又回忆想起，想要记录下来当时却没有纸笔，随后安慰自己算了吧，也不是什么重要的事情。
一开始，我想掐死这个讨厌的小孩。然后可能我们都喜欢他了吧，彼此驯服彼此接纳，与人共度时光多么有魔力啊。
于是又重新把影片过了一遍
“生活在一个安静的环境里是很重要的，你能明白吗？你们这代人已经失去了这种宁静。”
感觉男孩的原生家庭和男主的纪录片项目各是一道命题，两边结合的还不够好。

或许是出于某种奇怪的刻板印象，叔侄关系的一对人物被搬上银幕，总让我觉得导演有颗拍公路片的心。说到本片，主题其实仍然是类似的，无非就是身陷囹圄的成年人被少不更事的孩子治愈（严重一点就是救赎）的故事，全片采用黑白色调就显得非常没有必要，完全起不到氛围严肃的作用，为何不干脆随大流使用干净明亮的色彩呢？不明白导演的用意何在。
华金·菲尼克斯和电影的气质太贴切了，每一句台词、每一个表情都十分有味道，令人沉思、深思和反思。四星。
