The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 剧情节奏很慢的电影，又没有很享受的过程，没有看下去的欲望。粗略看解说，简单来说就是失去了阻止二战的一次绝佳机会，但历史不能够重演了，讲这些有多大意义呢？做好当下为和平付出的努力，维护当下世界和平才是正道。
战狼在这部片面前弱爆了！国内的电影真的应该反思。血性男儿就应该是主角，家家户户都有铁打的男儿。这种正向的审美就值得点赞！且不说他们对自己被压迫的历史铭记于心，对自己文化传统的自信，就单单是影片传递出的价值观都值得我们学习。要是我国这类型的片子多些就好了，但是脑子里只想到了李连杰的黄飞鸿！
文能阿普音乐室，武能巴霍宝莱坞，印度文艺是不是世界上反差最大的？抗英神剧比抗日神剧还神的多，你也不能说它不精彩，只是依据题材优势本来可以处理的更有感染力。印度男人的肉体有点子可口
原著作者和导演想表达的是：张伯伦基于正确的理由做了错误的决定。绥靖政策在当时的欧洲基本是民心所向，一战的阴影和影响让老百姓普遍反战，十月革命使西方世界把苏俄红色势力当作更重要的敌人，最重要的是没人能预料到希特勒会那么疯狂。所以就连丘吉尔也评价张伯伦是“为和平而斗争，甚至不顾巨大的危险，至于个人的荣辱则肯定也完全置之度外。”
- 2022/07/11，看完。“We don’t choose the times we live in. The only choice we have is how we respond.”本片中最喜欢的几幕：夏夜，校园，派对，枕着胳膊一齐躺在草地上；看望了如今不得不只能卧病的Lenya后，Hugh和Paul分享了一支烟，面对面呵出的烟雾和对视在黑沉沉的夜里交织成雾；清晨他们争吵，告别，各自走向未知又既定的前路；意外再会一回，没有交谈的空余，只能交付字条与简短的眼神。最后，感谢角色设定和讲的语言终于对上了【。】-
很魔幻的感觉，只有印度才能有的电影，和中国的神剧还不是一个味道的东西
我尼玛，三哥牛逼，印度神片在场面、编剧、配乐上都再上一个台阶，好家伙，看得太欢乐了，还要啥逻辑要啥科学要啥自行车啊！
印度史诗级超级英雄片，全程高能，无脑又欢乐。两大主演身材都好到爆，两兄弟联手估计可以干翻全宇宙吧。电影刻画的居然还是历史上的人物，吃惊。演技特效非常夸张，但是不影响观赏，饭后娱乐最佳选择。
很精致的片子，在真实历史的框架里展示不同人的各种抉择，很精彩
一般般，开始节奏不太好，后面紧张起来了就很不错。既然离谱，为何不一枪毙了希特勒呢。
英国人竟然胆敢找印度人斗舞这一无知举动就奠定了本片的超现实基调。阿兰和毕姆两人竟然还有史诗角色歌，秒回《摩诃婆罗多》，片尾舞蹈可以照搬上春晚。印度人想象力一直可以的。
节奏很好， 导演很逊，歌曲好听。电影主旨是为张伯伦洗白？当年丘吉尔怎样在Hause里苦口婆心地希望大家看到希特勒狼子野心的？可是都被一张薄薄的慕尼黑条约蒙了眼睛！
百兽出笼精彩纷呈，水火斗那段太好笑了，能把这么苦大仇深的故事制作得如此欢乐，真是了不起。
基于史实的改编基本等于戴着镣铐跳舞 荞麦和Jannis意外有点好嗑

观感比巴利霍利差多了，双男主设定，两个胡须佬。开场十分钟无法直视，没想到后面都这样，想来这是印度片的特色。与白人女性那几场戏仿佛京都球侠
回顾并反思历史的方式有很多，值得肯定。但强行为张伯伦“立传”的想法和观点并非可取，绥靖协议成了战略机遇期？说难听点，屁股歪了…(5.5/10.0)
